Caceres, Simon (Jacob) de
(d. 1704)
   English merchant. He was born in Amsterdam and settled in London before 1656. He lived openly as a Jew and urged marranos in London to practise Judaism. He advised Oliver Cromwell during the conquest of Jamaica. He was one of the signatories of a petition organized by the Jews of London requesting freedom of worship, and he helped with the acquisition of the first congregational cemetery in 1657.
